At Whitehorse Dentist, we offer a wide range of general dentistry services. These include:
We use white, resin-based fillings that are designed to repair chipped, broken or decayed teeth. They are bonded to your natural tooth and ensure that only a minimal amount of drilling is necessary. White fillings are suitable for small to medium sized cavities.
When a tooth has undergone extensive destruction due to large decay, large cracks or multiple filling procedures, it is left in a weakened state. When this occurs, many patients will notice that the tooth chips easily, feels weak when chewing and is in constant need of attention. A crown is a covering for the tooth that holds the tooth together and strengthens it. This can save teeth that have sustained significant damage in the past, allowing you to chew with confidence.
Gum disease is the main cause of tooth loss and, incredibly, it’s the fifth most common health condition in Australia. Gum infections are largely painless, so many people are unaware they have the disease until it has reached more advanced stages.
The gums and bones around the teeth are like the foundations of a house. You need a solid foundation to ensure that your teeth will last you a lifetime. At Whitehorse Dental in Blackburn, we use the world’s most efficient and gentle gum treatment technology. Once we have removed the bacterial cause of the gum infection, we take the time to teach you the best way to look after your teeth to ensure that the problem never returns.
Losing a tooth can be a devastating process, as it can impact on your ability to smile, speak and eat properly. Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace a missing tooth. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into the jawbone. Once the jawbone heals around the implant, a customised crown can be attached to the top. This replaces the entire missing tooth without impacting on the surrounding teeth, and it looks, functions and feels just like a natural tooth. We use only the best dental implant brands to ensure that you have peace of mind knowing your investment will last for decades.
Root canal treatment
Every tooth has a nerve and blood supply at its center. Sometimes large cracks, decay or repeated filling procedures can cause the nerve to become infected. If left untreated a large abscess will form, which can spread to the surrounding jaw and cause a life threatening reaction. If you develop an infection and you wish to keep the tooth, we can remove the infection with a root canal treatment. Over a two to three-visit process, we clean out the inside of the tooth and seal it so that the infection never returns. The Root Canal Treatment is performed under anesthetic and is completely pain-free.
